The ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Foundation Program

The ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Foundation Program is designed to strengthen students’ proficiency in both English and Mathematics, preparing them for success in all university-level coursework at American International University (ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è). The program plays a vital role in helping students improve their academic skills while becoming accustomed to academic life in an American university setting in Kuwait.

The Foundation Program  Objectives

The Foundation Program is open to ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è degree-seeking students. The program prepares students for university-level study in both English and Mathematics, ensuring they have the academic skills necessary to succeed in their chosen degree programs.

The Foundation Program consists of courses in two core areas:

  • English – Grammar and Writing, Listening and Speaking, and Reading and Vocabulary.
  • Mathematics – Fundamental concepts and problem-solving skills required for degree-level courses.

Through weekly scheduled courses, students have the opportunity to:

  • Develop academic English and Math skills needed to complete ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è courses.
  • Enhance reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and quantitative reasoning skills necessary for success in college-level courses.
  • Read and understand a variety of scholarly materials and mathematical problems while learning to analyze and interpret information for comprehension.
  • Become accustomed to an American academic environment, with the goal of successfully transitioning into a university-level degree program.
  • Improve oral communication skills to engage effectively with classmates and faculty in group discussions and presentations.
  • Strengthen problem-solving and logical reasoning abilities essential for mathematics and technical courses.
  • Pronounce standard American English for both production and comprehension purposes.
  • Participate fully in ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è student life and meet with academic advisors to ensure a smooth transition to university-level courses.

The ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Process

Students can start the admissions process by completing the ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è application, submitting all required documents, and paying the application fee. An ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Specialist will meet with students individually to assist with the admissions and testing process.

Important Dates

The English foundation program courses begin in September 2026. The last day to submit an ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è application and all other materials is August 27, 2026, to be considered for admission for the Fall 2026 semester.

Enrollment

To Enroll in the Foundation Program:

  1. Complete an application at
  2. Meet with an ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Specialist to take the next step towards enrollment.
  3. Make an appointment to assess language and math skills for appropriate placement into the Foundation Program.
